Association appoints officers

Kenneth G. Lawrence, president of PECO Energy Co., has been elected chairman for 2001 of the newly formed Energy Association of Pennsylvania.

Lawrence is president of PECO Energy Co., Philadelphia. He has led PECO's distribution company for the past four years, previously serving as PECO's CFO

and vice president of gas and commercial operations. PECO Energy has 1.5 million electric and 425,000 natural gas customers, now part of Exelon Corp.

Michael E. Bray, president of PPL Utilities, Allentown, was elected vice chairman of the association for 2001.

Bray was appointed in April as head of PPL's electric and gas distribution business, which serves 1.4 million customers across Pennsylvania. Prior to joining PPL, he was president of Consolidated Edison Development, senior vice president of the Electric Business Unit at Long Island Lighting Co., and president of DB Riley.

Richard L. Bunn will continue as the association's interim president and CEO during the associations's search for a new president.

Also, David Epple and Dan Regan were elected vice presidents of Regulatory Affairs. David Evrard was elected vice president and secretary.

The Energy Association of Pennsylvania was formed in October through the combination of the former Pennsylvania Electric and Pennsylvania Gas associations. It represents the 19 investor-owned electric and natural gas utilities across the state.

Members of the association are Allegheny Power, Duquesne Light, GPU Energy, Pennsylvania Power, PECO Energy, PPL Utilities, UGI Utilities, Columbia Gas of PA, Dominion Gas Delivery, Equitable Gas Co., National Fuel Gas Distribution Corp., PG Energy Inc., Chartiers Natural Gas Co., Gasco Distribution Systems Inc., Nido's Ltd. Inc., Valley Cities Gas Service, Citizens' Electric, Pike Country Light & Power, and Wellsboro Electric.
