Emission impossible?

When vehicle component manufacturer Britax PMG decided to source new forklifts for its Bridlington site, the company believed electric vehicles were the only option.

With so much of the materials

handling being performed indoors, Britax thought engine fumes would prohibit use of IC-engine equipment. But Mitsubishi dealer MH Industrial demonstrated that the LPG version of the Mitsubishi N series could be used in this environment, without a detrimental effect on the air quality.

"The low emission levels of the N series were spot on for our needs," says Andy Wylde, Britax's logistics co-ordinator outbound. "As well as that, we were impressed by the whole look of the truck and we were particularly keen on the comfortable, ergonomic seating position."

As a leading supplier of safety equipment, such as vehiclemounted hazard warning beacons, vehicle lighting systems and mirrors, Britax was also sold on the trucks' fail-safe measures and features.

A further practical detail to consider was the restricted entrance to the Britax premises at Bridlington, but the two 1.8t LPG trucks supplied are very compact, and have had low masts fitted.
