Description: Represents private suppliers of ambulance service. Aims to: aid in developing private enterprise pre-hospital emergency medical treatment and medical transportation services as a viable cost-effective alternative to publicly-operated services; promote improved patient care; develop efficient medical transportation at a reasonable cost; improve personnel and equipment standards; work with organizations offering medical transportation; encourage high standards of ethics and conduct. Acts as an information clearinghouse; informs members of developments in the industry. Offers advice on federal statutes and regulations related to the medical transportation industry, such as insurance and antitrust regulations. Holds four regional seminars per year on topics such as training requirements, insurance systems, medicare reimbursement, and local, state, and federal legislation and regulations. Conducts quarterly emergency medical services management seminar.

Publications: Ambulance Service Journal, quarterly. Includes book reviews and legislative reports. PRICE: free for members; $25.00 for nonmembers. CIRCULATION: 5,000. ADVERTISING: accepted.
