PEC Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ:PECS), announced today that the U.S. Department of Treasury's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) awarded the company numerous task orders totaling $5.6 million

The orders encompass a wide variety of tasks.

PEC will develop a web-based application for ATF that will allow law enforcement and fire agencies engaged in investigations of arson and the criminal misuse of explosives to enter and retrieve information about past incidents.

PEC will also help transition another ATF law enforcement case management system from a client-server to a web-based architecture, reducing maintenance and deployment costs. In addition, the company will enhance the system's property inventory and evidence-tracking capabilities for improved asset management and reporting.

PEC will also begin developing the next increment of capabilities for two additional operational systems: reengineering an ATF compliance enforcement tool used by agency inspectors to regulate the alcohol, tobacco, and firearms industries to a web-based environment, and enhancing a document imaging and retrieval system that uses the latest imaging technologies to support law enforcement operations.

These enhanced capabilities will improve the systems' abilities to share and exchange data among other ATF systems, providing users with up-to-date information to assist with law enforcement activities.

Finally, PEC will provide general product and implementation support for ATF's critical-incident case management system designed to collect and analyze large volumes of information related to criminal investigations.
