Robert A. Weissman installed as president of San Fernando Valley Bar Association.

ENCINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 19, 1995--Robert A. Weissman, one of Southern California's leading attorneys in construction and real estate law, was installed Thursday evening (Oct. 19) as president of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association (SFVBA) at the professional law organization's Annual President's Recognition Dinner.

A resident of Northridge, Calif., Weissman is the senior partner of Weissman & Weissman, an Encino-based law firm that has served the construction and real estate industries for more than four decades. A noted author and lecturer, he had been a member of the SFVBA for eight years and had been a trustee or officer for the past five years.

In addition to Weissman, other officers installed at the gala banquet held at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel, were: David R. Hagen of the Woodland Hills, Calif.-based law firm of Merritt & Hagen, president-elect; Leon F. Bennett, a Woodland Hills attorney, secretary; and Fred Gaines of Reznik & Reznik in Sherman Oaks, Calif., as treasurer.

Noting that the SFVBA was embarking on its 70th year of service to the San Fernando Valley legal professional, Weissman commented: "I am especially pleased to assume the presidency as our association enters its eighth decade. It has a distinguished history of serving not only professionals in law -- but also the community as a whole.

"We are proud of our record of service and will continue to build on this tradition."

Weissman reported that his goals for his term as SFVBA president will be to encourage association members to "make a difference in a positive way, become good role models as lawyers and work together to make the association a cohesive and powerful force."

A native of Los Angeles, Weissman attended the University of California at Los Angeles where he received a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science. He received his law degree from the Southwestern University School of Law and was admitted to practice by the State Bar of California in 1975. He is also a licensed real estate broker.

A prominent media consultant, Weissman has had a column in Los Angeles' leading legal publications and has authored numerous articles on creditor's rights, construction and real estate law for real estate, banking, construction industry and general business publications.

Weissman is a member of and has held leadership positions in a number of professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, California Lawyers for the Arts and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the latter of which he is a former trustee.
