Challenges continue over hours-of-service rule.(WASHINGTON, D.C.)

The battle over the Department of Transportation's hours of service regulations continues to rage on, as federal transportation officials examine their impact on the number of crashes involving large trucks.

Consumer advocate Public Citizen filed a lawsuit in federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., challenging the role issued Aug. 25, 2005, by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The lawsuit is backed by Citizens for Reliable and Safe Highways and Parents Against Tired Truckers, which won the revocation of the previous rule in 2004. This effort includes
