May 7--Accelent Systems Inc., once one of the area's hottest technology companies, has closed abruptly after a proposed acquisition fell through.
At its peak three years ago, the company had 73 employees worldwide and worked closely with Microsoft and Intel in designing Internet appliances and portable hand-held devices.
But on Wednesday, the struggling company sent 19 employees home from the Fairlawn headquarters and said there is no money to pay them.
