Apr. 1--It is three years since the music industry's big-shot executives thought they had solved their internet piracy problem. A US court ruled Napster.com's file-sharing service illegal. Germany's Bertelsmann took it over.
Rivals such as Kazaa, Grokster, BearShare and WinMX sprang up in Napster's place. So much for controlling the internet.
Internet research group Forrester estimates that 44 million Americans regularly download music, but Europeans are catching up. More than 90 percent
