Opinion should quiet lawyer advertising debate for awhile.

New and possibly stricter advertising regulations aren't likely to be proposed by the Bar anytime soon in the wake of the Florida Supreme Court's December 17 ad rule amendments.

The court adopted most of the recommendations proposed by the Bar, but rejected a ban on trade names and tougher standards for what lawyers can say and do in television ads. It also rejected a proposed rule making out-of-state lawyers who advertise in Florida subject to court oversight, but said those lawyers are subject to unlicensed practice of law prosecution.
