KLM places order with GE Aircraft Engines.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

As part of its fleet renewal programme, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has reportedly selected GE Aircraft Engines to power 13 Boeing widebody aircraft.

The airline has placed an order for GE's GE90-94B engines to

power four Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, and GE's CF6-80C2 engines to power three 747-400ER freighters. The order - which also includes two spare GE90 engines - is estimated to be worth USD250m.

The airline is also leasing six GE90-powered Boeing 777-200ER aircraft through International Lease Finance Corp.
