Effective Aug. 23, the Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division issued a final rule revising the criteria for determining eligibility for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The new rule expands the number of low-wage employees eligible for overtime pay by raising the salary threshold used to determine exempt status, at the time making it easier for employers to exempt higher-paid employees from overtime pay requirements.
Under the new rule, all employees compensated on a salary basis and earning less than $23,660 per year are guaranteed overtime pay. T
