Double duty on Israeli products in Russia.

On June 14, Russian President Boris Yeltsin signed a decree placing heavy customs duties on imported Israeli products arriving after July 1. The new customs duties are to be levied on luxury goods such as liquor and electronics. The Russian government maintains the exclusive right to exempt certain importers from customs payments. Vital food products and medicines are exempt from the new customs. All other exemptions were canceled after July 1.
