Cut-resistant gloves.(Safety and protection)

Using the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibre Dyneema, researchers have developed better cut-resistant gloves, according to the fibre's manufacturer, DSM of Urmond, The Netherlands.

The gloves are especially intended for use in the food processing industry and they are included in DSM's licensee programme. The gloves meet the requirements of the standard ASTM ISEA level 5 in terms of cut resistance and they are being made by Ansell Healthcare, El Paso, Texas, USA, which converts the newly patented composite yarns into products for this end-use.
