Biophan Technologies Expands Biotechnology Intellectual Property Portfolio to 114 Patents Issued...

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- New Patents Further Solidify Company's Control of Key Solutions in Multi-Billion-Dollar Biomedical Markets

Biophan Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: BIPH), a developer of next-generation biomedical technology, has announced continued growth of its intellectual property portfolio, reaching a total of 114 issued or filed patents in a range of cutting-edge biomedical fields. The newly-issued patents and recent patent applications claim important additional intellectual property coverage for the Company as it continues its development of advanced solutions for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) safety and image compatibility for surgical instruments and implanted devices, and other markets.

The Company now holds a total of 34 issued patents, 8 allowed (that is, approved for subsequent issuance), with the remaining 72 undergoing the patent examination process. The latest additions to Biophan's intellectual property portfolio include two newly issued patents and six filed patent applications.

Biophan obtained one of the issued patents through its recent acquisition of AMRIS, an advanced MRI company in Germany that has since been established as Biophan-Europe. Another newly issued patent was granted to Biophan's joint-development partner Nanoset LLC. Biophan holds the exclusive worldwide marketing rights to Nanoset's patents for all medical markets.

The six new patent applications involve several areas, including the Company's ceramic-based, MRI-compatible Squiggle(TM) motor, which it is developing with technology partner New Scale Technologies. Other new patent applications covered key areas in the development of nanomagnetic coatings that are designed to improve visualization and safety of implanted medical devices, such as stents and catheters, within MRI-imaging environments.
