LAGUNA BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 2002
The Laguna Beach, CA law firm of Levin & Hawes, LLP (www.lagunalaw.com) has been retained by Larry Cano to protect his "Rally Monkey" trademark and copyright interests. Founding partner William E. Levin represents Mr. Cano and will play a proactive role in turning his copyrighted "Rally Monkey: The Movie" script treatment, registered with the Writers Guild of America, into a feature film. The fact that Mr. Cano holds the intellectual property rights in the fan-generated Rally Monkey, unofficial mascot of the Anaheim Angels, has been the topic of recent controversy in the media, especially as the team is owned by The Walt Disney Co.
"Larry Cano has created a 'Rally Monkey' character that embodies the 'can do' spirit that drove the Anaheim Angels to their first major league baseball World Series win," explained William E. Levin. His next goal is to come to win-win terms with the Angels and Disney that will enable him to bring his concept to the big screen. We're on board to protect Larry's rights and interests in making a movie based on the Rally Monkey phenomena, including such ancillary benefits as merchandising and television spin-offs."
Larry Cano is a Hollywood filmmaker and served as Executive Producer of "Silkwood." He is currently working with Sherman Oaks, CA attorney Andrew C. Rigrod ("Star Wars," "Angels in the Outfield," and "Harry and the Hendersons") and Mr. Levin (who obtained the largest trademark infringement judgment in the world and is the intellectual property attorney for the Laguna Beach Film Festival) to produce a Rally Monkey feature film.
