Korea's Glow Yarn Co Ltd has revealed details of its process for making phosphorescent yarns.
Earlier, the company from Seoul had announced the availability of polyester and polypropylene textiles that glow in the dark (see also, Advances in Textiles Technology, April 2004, page 3). In US Patent 6 692 667, the company reveals how it encapsulates phosphorescent particles in the fibres.
The phosphorescent material is a mixture of encapsulated particles:
* 55-62.5% (by weight) of strontium oxide;
* 35-42.5% of aluminium oxide;
