Supreme Court's decision strikes a balance between "junk science" testimony and the need to rely on expert witnesses

Because the role of expert witnesses in design and construction cases is critical, the U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision expanding on its 1993 ruling on the admissibility of expert testimony was of wide interest to the design and construction community.

The court's decision six years ago established the rules to guide trial courts in accepting expert testimony on "scientific" issues.
