Feb. 11--NOTHING ILLEGAL, HE CLAIMS: Tyco's former chief financial officer Mark Swartz testified on his own behalf yesterday, denying that he ever did anything illegal and offering explanations for many transactions cited as crimes by prosecutors.

Dressed conservatively in a dark suit, white shirt and blue tie like the numbers cruncher he once was, Swartz took the stand after his codefendant, ex-Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski, rested without calling any witnesses.
