ARGENTINA: Construction plans for proposed $650,000,000 aluminum production capacity expansion...

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Spain-based REPSOL YPF and PAN AMERICAN ENERGY, an Argentinean gas company, recently signed contracts to supply the local ALUMINIO ARGENTINA SAIC (ALUAR) with gas for the next 20 years. As a result, ALUAR is now gearing-up to begin expanding its aluminum refinery in Puerto Madryn in the southern province of Chubut, Argentina.

The envisioned expansion project is aimed at increasing production output from the current 280,000 tons per year (t/y) up to 400,000 t/y. The upgrade project will involve adding 2 new 74-cube lines to the 6 existing
