ON APRIL 10, 2006, NCMA PRESIDENT KAREN H. REUTER, CPCM, FELLOW, PRESENTED the Charles J. Delaney Memorial Award to co-authors Gregory A. Garrett and Dr. Rene G. Rendon at the World Congress 2006 held in Atlanta, Georgia. Their article, titled "Managing Contracts in Turbulent Times: The Contract Management
The Charles J. Delaney Memorial Award was established in 1971 by NCMA Honorary Life Member and Fellow. Norman Singer, designed to encourage NCMA members to submit articles for publication in Contract Munn^rncnt magazine. The NCMA Awards and Honors Committee reviews nominations and statements of support submitted by a chapter president, or other elected officer, with an emphasis on relevance, timeliness, usefulness, or importance to the field of contract management.
"The topic of the article, the Contract Management Maturity Model (CMMM?), is a critical and significant addition to the contract management body of knowledge," according to Los Angeles South Bay Chapter president Thi Hagenbucchle. Co-authors Carrett and Rendon describe today's contracting environment MS "turbulent," as both commercial and governmental organizations increasingly turn to contractors and suppliers to perform complex services and highly specialized functions. In reality, contract management as a business process is becoming integral to corporate strategy and having a direct effect on organizational competitiveness.
