California Report Shows How Private Your Private Data Really Is.

Jan. 29--Sharing of consumer information is widespread among financial institutions in California and the companies give consumers little say in the matter, a consumer advocacy group reported Wednesday.

In a report card on privacy practices, the Consumer Federation of California Education Foundation flunked 10 of 55 financial institutions on how they handle customers' personal information. Six other companies got D's.
