Notification is hereby given, that the United States District Court, District of New Jersey, Newark, has granted

an extension for the filing of Proofs of Claim in the Engelhard Corp. Securities Litigation to Jan. 29, 1999, for all persons who purchased the common stock of the Engelhard Corp. during the period from April 4, 1995 through Nov. 13, 1995, inclusive and who were damaged thereby by holding such shares through Nov. 13, 1995.
