For an informed perspective on the Tampa Bay region's business advantages, just ask Solicore Inc. President Robert Singleton. Solicore manufactures rechargeable batteries and distributes them worldwide. The company has attracted millions of investment dollars from OPG Ventures of Toronto and other backers. Singleton expects the company to grow to 300-plus employees by 2004.

He wants to grow in the right place. So, after "testing European and Pacific Rim sites," Solicore decided to locate its 55,000-square-foot facility in Polk County's Lakeland, east of Tampa Bay.
