The U.S. Department of Labor identified the geospatial technology industry as one of 12 sectors that will have significant effects on the U.S. economy. The 12 sectors identified included information technology (IT), biotechnology, energy and health care, among others. Each sector is projected to be transformed by technology and innovation, requiring new skill sets for workers as new jobs are created and new businesses emerge.
