ALLTEL Signs Contract with CWA in Nebraska; Company Has Reached 10 Agreements This Year with...

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- ALLTEL (NYSE: AT) has signed a new three-year labor agreement with the Communications Workers of America in Nebraska, completing a successful year of negotiating 10 union contracts.

The Nebraska agreement covers about 300 employees that process service orders and install

network services in Lincoln and 22 southeastern Nebraska counties.

"Our company is grateful for the help from our union employees to reach successful agreements in all of our negotiations this year," said C.J. Duvall, executive vice president of human resources. "Our negotiations have produced contracts that recognize the competitive realities of the communications industry by giving ALLTEL the flexibility to run the business and serve customers."

This year, ALLTEL has signed labor contracts with workers represented by the CWA and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
