The latest buzz in the boardroom is human capital management, a trend that reflects how employees add value to a company and how organizations are recognizing the role that employees play in a company's success. Merrill Lynch defines effective human capital management as focused on acquiring, training and retaining the best knowledge workers available.

With over 70% of Fortune 1000 CEOs viewing human capital management as a strategic component of their business, the time has come for a Chief Human Capital Officer in the boardroom.
