ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- IDG's Computerworld, the "Voice of IT Management," has selected Paychex, Inc. as one of the top 100 workplaces for information technology (IT) professionals. This honor is part of the weekly IT publication's 12th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, which

was published in the June 27 issue and online at Computerworld.com. Paychex, a leading national provider of payroll and human resource services, ranked number 52 on the 2005 list. This is the first year Paychex participated in the survey and appeared on the list.

Computerworld's ranking is based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training, and retention. In addition, this year Computerworld surveyed IT workers for the list, and their responses factored heavily in determining the rankings.

"This honor is a great testimony to the quality of our work environment," said Paychex President and CEO Jonathan J. Judge. "Our IT professionals enjoy a fast-paced, growth-oriented, technology-rich culture where they can utilize their skills, learn new ones, and be challenged to contribute creative IT solutions to constantly evolving business needs."

In addition to ranking number 52 on the overall list, Paychex earned spots on three "top 10" lists in the survey. The company ranked number 6 among all 100 for the number of training days provided per employee; number 9 for the percentage of employee promoted in 2004; and number 9 for the percentage of IT staff who are women. Each Paychex employee enjoys an average of 114 training hours per year, and 18% of Paychex's IT staff was promoted in the last fiscal year.

"This year's Best Places to Work rankings represent companies across the industry that recognize how a strong commitment to and investment in employees is synonymous with creating a great IT work environment," said Don Tennant, editor in chief of Computerworld. "Once again, we found that IT professionals are looking for rewarding and challenging projects, access to leading-edge technologies, career growth and development, and a comfortable work/life balance. Our Best Places companies not only offer these benefits, but do so in a manner that goes well above industry norms."

"As a business services provider, Paychex relies heavily on our IT staff to develop and enhance applications that serve internal and external clients," said Daniel A. Canzano, Paychex Vice President, Information Technology. "The investment we make in technology and our employees allows us to design and build the very best solutions to deliver premium services to our clients. I'm very proud of our IT organization and our senior management team, which has worked hard to make this one of the best places to work in Information Technology. Paychex is clearly a special place to work, and we all love being part of the team."
