RemedyTemp Inc. Unveils New MAPS Technology To TargetAnd Recruit Workers.

ALISO VIEJO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 1999--Low unemployment rates contribute to the difficult task of finding qualified workers for many employers.

RemedyTemp Inc. (Nasdaq: REMX - news)(Remedy) has created and is now introducing a new technology, called MAPS(SM) (Market Analysis Profile

Sourcing), which utilizes psychographics and demographics to profile and more effectively recruit employees for Remedy's approximately 17,000 client companies.

Remedy began its MAPS(SM) project by profiling nearly 75,000 top producing temporary associates and found that many had similar attitudes, behaviors and lifestyles. From the similarities in these psychographic profiles, Remedy was able to craft three distinct target groups.

"With MAPS(SM), we can tell what a targeted group of workers likes to watch on TV, how often they go to the movies, even what they tend to eat for dinner," said Bill Herbster, Remedy's vice president of marketing.

Remedy applied this psychographic data in markets across the country to map where the three target groups live. These maps graphically show the concentration of prime recruiting prospects by job category within each census block, the smallest possible geographic unit equivalent to the size of a neighborhood.

By focusing attention on neighborhoods where their targeted workers live, Remedy believes it not only increases the size of the available pool of workers but also significantly reduces mis-hires common with non-targeted methods such as generic, mass-media recruiting.

"Unlike traditional mass recruiting methods which broadcast the same message to everyone, we can focus our marketing activities with pinpoint accuracy," said Herbster. "MAPS gives us the ability to virtually clone our clients' best, most productive employees."

Armed with MAPS(SM) technology, Remedy is also able to proactively recruit the underemployed rather than limiting their search to the unemployed.

"In today's job market, it's difficult to find the right people unless you broaden your search beyond the small unemployed population," stated Remedy's President and Chief Executive Officer Paul W. Mikos. "MAPS(SM) enables us to target and recruit from a much larger pool of people -- many of whom are employed but still receptive to greater opportunities to accelerate their careers. MAPS(SM) will enable us to more consistently provide our clients with good, productive people."
