BOSTON -- J. Robert Scott, a leading international retainer-based executive search firm, today announced the placement of Lin Zahn as Dean of the School of Nursing for the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS), a private, coeducational college offering graduate, professional

Dr. Zahn joins MCPHS from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell where, as director, she led the Ph.D. program in nursing for the School of Health and Environment. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and participates on the peer review panels and editorial boards of several nursing journals. Her program of research focuses on the quality of life of older adults and ethnic minorities, ethno-cultural studies related to health and illness, and health promotion for women and ethnic minorities.

Dr. Zahn is an accomplished author, having published more than 80 articles and several books. In 2000, the book "Asian Voices: Asian and Asian-American Health Educators Speak out" received "The Book of the Year" award by the

American Journal of Nursing for outstanding professional development. Another book "Asian Americans: Vulnerable Populations, Model Interventions, and Clarifying Agendas" was commended by Dr. Joyce Clifford, President and CEO of the Institute of Nursing Health Care Leadership.

Zhan is an associate in the Institute for Nursing Healthcare Leadership, Carl Shapiro Institute of Education and Research, and Harvard Medical School, Boston. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Association of Older Americans and the Board of Governors of National League for Nursing in New York. Internationally, she is a visiting/honorary professor at five Chinese universities - The 2nd and 3rd Military Medical University in Shanghai and Chongqing, respectively; Macau Kiang Wu College of Nursing, Macau; Sichuan University, Chengdu; and Southern Medical University, Guangzhou. Dr. Zhan has received numerous regional, national, and international awards for her excellence in education, service, and scholarship.
