Mar. 26--Indianapolis-area private schools place an emphasis on providing their students with a diverse educational experience, but some are struggling to practice what they teach.
"We need more teachers that reflect our student body," said Andrew Hart, head of school at The Oaks Academy, 2301 N. Park Ave.
The situation faced by the 6-year-old academy is typical of private schools: About half of its 220 students are black, but there is just one black teacher.
