Home emergency agreement

AXA Assistance has entered into a risk sharing agreement with Hamilton Insurance, a member of the HFC Bank Group, to provide a new `Home Emergency Plan' policy which will be sold exclusively through the group's Beneficial Finance network. The plan will be underwritten by Hamilton Insurance and reinsured

into AXA Assistance, who will provide claims handling.

The new plan has been designed to provide existing and new customers with the facility to insure against most home emergencies - missing roof tiles, storm damage, burst or leaking pipes and radiators, central heating failure, broken or damaged windows and external doors, infestation by vermin, even the loss of house keys are all protected by Beneficial Finance's `Home Emergency Plan' policy. The new plan offers round-the-clock assistance 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

Should an unexpected incident occur at home, policyholders can phone to arrange for a pre-vetted and approved contractor to be on-site within two hours to institute temporary repairs.

The policy provides up to 250 worth of temporary repairs, including call-out charges and materials. If required, up to 100 is available for alternative overnight accommodation should the building be uninhabitable.

Ian Jansingh, AXA Assistance head of business development, said, "We have been in discussions with HFC Bank Group for several months and are delighted to have reached agreement to support Hamilton Insurance on implementing its new `Home Emergency Plan'. We view this as the start of a long term business relationship with the group."
