Blue Cross, Shield of North Carolina to Offer Hybrid Coverage Plan.

Oct. 15--Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina will soon offer a new, hybrid form of health coverage to companies with 100 employees or more.

The new offering, called the Freedom Account, is a blending of conventional coverage with the kind of employee spending accounts that have recently grown in popularity.

Ordinarily, employers decide what insurance they'll offer, and employees have little say over the size of copays, deductibles and the premiums taken
