SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 1996--SAFECO Insurance Companies has been rated the top workers' compensation insurer in a recent national survey of agents and brokers.
In the November issue of the Institute of Management and Administration's (IOMA) Monthly Report on Property/Casualty
IOMA conducts the survey to provide the industry with independent ratings of property casualty insurance companies' service, quality, and expertise. Ratings are compiled from a random survey of 3,500 property casualty agents and brokers of all sizes from across the country.
In addition, SAFECO was the only company to receive any votes in IOMA's regional ratings for the West. No other companies received enough votes to be included.
"There have been numerous changes in workers' compensation laws in several states recently as well as fierce competition," said Dave Weaver, assistant vice president of claims for SAFECO. "Large fluctuations in the market have forced others to cut back on service standards and drastically lower premiums to gain new business."
For many companies, a result of the reduced premiums are downsized customer service operations and outsourced claims adjusters.
"SAFECO has proved its disciplined approach to pricing and service could perform well in a competitive market," Weaver said. "SAFECO's stability has enabled us to offer our customers the best service, automation and people in the industry."
IOMA is a leading publisher of business and management information. Each month IOMA's newsletters publish articles concerning virtually every industry sector.
Founded in 1923, SAFECO is among the largest diversified financial corporations in America. Property and casualty insurance is its largest operation.
