Allstate Insurance Files Request to Raise South Carolina Earthquake Premiums.

Feb. 27--Allstate Insurance Co., the No. 2 insurance provider in South Carolina, wants to raise the price of its earthquake coverage by an average of 20 percent statewide.

If approved by the state Insurance Department, the rate change could go into effect in April for all homeowners in 10 counties including Charleston, Berkley and Dorchester.
