Feb. 3--AUTO INSURERS PUSH FOR 12.3 PERCENT INCREASE: Insurers want to raise N.C. car rates by an average of 12.3 percent later this year, which would add $74 to the average annual state premium.

Drivers in Charlotte, where average premiums are 50 percent higher than the state norm, would pay an additional $103.50.
