ADVISORY....for Wednesday (May 24)

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Stakeholders in financial services modernization

consumers, bankers, stock and mutual insurers, and regulators--will be represented at a national satellite broadcast that explores the implications

of the financial services reform legislation enacted in November 1999.

As the dust settles, questions arise--questions about increased competition for insurers, disputes over dual regulation, consumer privacy concerns, the potential for mega-mergers, emergence of new financial products, developing strategic alliances, and harnessing technology to serve a sophisticated customer base.

To address these concerns, the CPCU Society (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters) will present Financial Services Modernization: Threat or Opportunity, a satellite broadcast to air May 24, 2000, 1-4 p.m. eastern, in more than 50 locations nationwide, as well as Toronto, Ontario.

Part I, "Nuts and Bolts of the Act," will be moderated by Marsha D. Egan, CPCU, API, CPIW, of CNA Personal Insurance, and president of the CPCU Society.

Joining her are Pamela Allen of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies; David Farmer of the Alliance of American Insurers; Andres Navarrete of Capital One Financial Corp. and economist Benjamin Zycher of Rand Corporation.

Part II, "A Look at the Future," will be moderated by Paul A. Equale of Independent Insurance Agents of America. Joining him will be Richard Berstein of Met Life Auto & Home; Vance Gudmundsen, J.D., CPCU, CLU of Capital One Financial Corp.; J. Robert Hunter of the Consumer Federation of America; and Kathleen Sebelius, insurance commissioner for the state of Kansas.
