Travelers Property Casualty First to Make Real-time Policy View Available to Commercial...

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 26, 2002

Travelers Property Casualty, a leader in automation solutions for independent agents, is the first carrier to make real-time policy view accessible to independent commercial insurance agents and brokers directly

through their Applied Systems agency management systems. This capability, called Electronic Policy View (EPV), allows agents to access, view, print and save commercial lines policies in real-time.

Now, agents can access policy information in real-time directly from their agency management system, without having to locate paper files or log on to a separate company Web site.

"Travelers offers agents and brokers many e-business solutions through their agency management systems, and we continue to expand our suite of offerings," said David Findley. "The latest capability is EPV, which allows agents to access coverage information in real-time - helping to reduce the need for the agency to handle paper copies of policies. Taking advantage of e-service solutions allows agents to spend less time on routine policy administration and more time on generating new business for their agencies."

EPV displays commercial business insurance policies issued through Travelers' various automation systems. Policy files are received from various policy issuance systems, then converted into electronic images using the latest industry technology. EPV was first made available to agencies for commercial policies earlier this year via the Travelers Agency Portal, the company's online doorway to systems, forms and applications independent agencies use on a daily basis.

"With EPV, our customer service representatives can respond to customer requests for copies of their policies via our Agency Management System before even hanging up the phone. Now they can access an electronic copy and e-mail or fax it directly from their computer rather than finding the hardcopy of the policy, copying it and mailing it out," said Stuart S. Durland, vice president of The Durland Agencies in Warwick, N.Y. "EPV will be a great timesaver for our agency."

EPV also marks the latest advancement in Applied System's "Light `Em Up Campaign," an initiative to install new real-time interface transactions within all agencies using Applied Systems agency management systems, and to automatically enable communications with the major insurance carriers they represent. Travelers will authorize all of its contracted agencies and brokers to begin using this capability, currently in pilot, in the next few weeks.

In addition to EPV, quoting for Travelers business owners, auto, umbrella and workers comp policies is available today as well as claim loss runs via Applied Systems. A billing inquiry capability will be also available soon.

"EPV is a powerful addition to the expansive range of Travelers' Internet services agents and brokers can access in real-time directly from our agency management systems," said Doug Johnston, executive vice president of WARP Interface Services for Applied Systems. "EVP not only provides a fast and cost effective means for the agency to view the printed policy, it also helps eliminate the expense of handling paper copies of policies. We are pleased to work with Travelers to build in additional e-service functionality for agents and brokers."

For more information, agents and brokers can access the Travelers Agency Portal or call 1-800-842-2522 (select option 4) or contact their local Travelers marketing representative.

Travelers' automation and service solutions for independent agencies

Travelers is a leader in developing automation for independent agencies, offering a wide range of electronic solutions. Launched earlier this year, the Travelers Agency Portal provides easy access to the many systems, forms and applications independent agencies use on a daily basis through the Internet. For small commercial insurance, Travelers provides a total business system - accessible through the Agency Portal - that offers flexible automation options, enabling a greater ease of doing business for independent agencies. One component of this platform is SEMCI technology that enables real-time quoting through agency management systems. The company is in production for business owners policies, commercial auto, workers compensation and umbrella insurance as well as claim loss runs. Travelers was the first insurance carrier to launch this technology using the ACORD XML standard. The company also offers Issue Express Net, a browser-based real-time quote, rate and issuance system that integrates with the SEMCI technology. Policies quoted through the SEMCI process can be issued through Issue Express Net without redundant keying. Complementing these technology options, Travelers offers a state-of-the-art service center that functions as an extension of an agency's servicing operations, offering a variety of customer service levels. Agencies can interface with the service center directly through Issue Express Net. Travelers is an ACORD 2001 XML Implementation Champion.
