Hilb Rogal & Hobbs Company Announces the Acquisition of the Federau Group.

RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 2004

Hilb Rogal & Hobbs Company (NYSE: HRH), the world's 10th largest insurance and risk management intermediary, announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of the operating

assets of the The Federau Group, an affiliated group of insurance agencies located in Lansing, Michigan. The transaction is expected to be effective on April 1, 2004. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Generating over $3.3 million in revenue in 2003, The Federau Group is a full-service retail insurance broker that provides risk management, commercial property and casualty insurance and employee benefits products to its clients.

The Federau Group employs more than 40 insurance professionals, who will continue serving clients from their existing location under the leadership of William J. (Bill) Wesley, president, and the direction of John P. McGrath, HRH's Midwest regional director.
