Travelers and its Charitable Foundations Give Nearly $7 Million in the First Half of 2007.

Travelers stays in-synch with the community by focusing charitable giving on education, arts and culture and community development initiatives

SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- Today, Travelers announced that it and its two charitable foundations, the Travelers Foundation and the Travelers Connecticut

Foundation, provided almost $7 million in community support through the first half of 2007. The company and its charitable foundations collaborate with community-based nonprofit organizations to support initiatives that involve education, arts and culture and community development programs around the country. Roughly 40 percent of the funds were given to organizations and programs related to education, nearly 40 percent to community development and almost 20 percent of the funds went toward arts and culture during the first six months of the year.

Travelers and the Travelers Foundation provides funding for programs across the country. These include organizations like Teach for America in Houston, Texas, Habitat for Humanity International in Americus, Ga., and COMPAS in St. Paul, Minn.

"It is important to provide financial support for organizations throughout the country that are in-synch with the company's values of integrity, trust, inclusiveness and respect," said Mike Newman, vice president, Travelers Foundation.

The Travelers Connecticut Foundation supports initiatives throughout the State of Connecticut. The Urban League of Greater Hartford, United Way of the Capital Area and the Connecticut Forum are Connecticut-based organizations that have benefited from this foundation's specific focus.
