New figures from LIMRA International show U.S. carriers had better luck with expanding existing group long-term care insurance accounts in 1998 than with placing new contracts.
Carriers increased total group long-term care enrollment 12.6 percent, to 644,871 members, and total group LTC premium revenue 12.3 percent, to $287.5 million, LIMRA reported.
Meanwhile, premium revenue from newly placed group contracts held steady at $34.5 million, and enrollment in the new contracts fell 6.6 percent, to 83,405.
