Senator calls for speedy solution to Medicare Part D nightmare.

In a letter sent to Department of Health and Human Services Chief Michael Leavitt last week, Sen. Max Baucus (R-Mont.) called on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to step up efforts to ensure beneficiaries obtain their much needed prescription drugs.

As of Jan. 1, beneficiaries eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid were automatically enrolled in the Medicare Part D program. Now, nearly three weeks into the program's implementation, many are unable to receive the prescription drugs, according to several industry reports.
