A federal agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, CMS has contracted with PwC Consulting to create the Healthcare Integrated General Ledger Accounting System (HIGLAS), a fully integrated system designed to ensure payments are made accurately and efficiently and financial transactions are properly accounted for and recorded. The project will use SeeBeyond technology to facilitate the integration of HIGLAS with Medicare's existing systems, replacing the current financial systems with a centralized, web-based accounting system.
