Omnicare Comments on Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit.

COVINGTON, Ky. -- The Medicare Modernization ACT (MMA) which established the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit went into effect yesterday, January 1, 2006. The Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit makes available prescription drug coverage through Part D plans for all dual eligible (Medicare Eligible

and Medicaid Eligible) beneficiaries.

Omnicare (NYSE:OCR) fills prescriptions for more than 500,000 dual eligible beneficiaries who reside in nursing facilities. While we anticipate that there will be some administrative issues initially in implementing this significant new program, we are working with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Part D plans to make sure that no beneficiary in our nursing facilities will go without the drugs they need.
