"MedImpact has always had a partnership approach with its clients, and we are pleased to support their success as they design and implement their Medicare Part D programs," said Cliff Wong, Pharm.D., associate vice president for MedImpact. "Our experience with the Medicare population through our CMS-endorsed Drug Discount Card and our expertise in managed care will enable us to provide flexible, best-of-breed solutions to our clients as they deliver unique solutions to the Medicare population."
As a Medicare Part D participant, MedImpact will act as "the PBM inside" a Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) as well as Medicare Advantage with Prescription Drug coverage (MA-PD) plans. MedImpact will function as the administrator for its clients requiring these services. The company will support various benefit designs including the standard drug benefit, the actuarial equivalent standard benefit, the basic alternative benefit, and the enhanced alternative benefit plans.
Additionally, MedImpact will serve employers offering Medicare-qualified retiree prescription drug plans. Based on the client's benefit design, MedImpact will also offer clients a choice of prescription fulfillment options. Clients can choose MedImpact's Choice90Rx program, which enables the beneficiary to receive a 90-day supply of medication by mail or at the retail pharmacy.
"We feel very strongly about the value the Medicare prescription drug benefit brings to beneficiaries," said Dr. Wong, "and we commend the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for ensuring better access to prescription drug coverage for seniors and people living with disabilities. MedImpact has been serving retirees and senior populations since its inception, and we will continue to work hand-in-hand with our clients to implement these very important solutions."
