Coventry Healthcare Inc. Buys South Jordan, Utah-Based Company.

Jul. 10--Altius Health Plans Inc. was purchased Wednesday by Coventry Healthcare Inc., with the Bethesda, Md.-based Fortune 500 company spending $41 million in cash to ac...uire the Utah company's stock and assets.

The South Jordan-based Altius -- created in March 1998 by investors from the struggling, now-defunct PacifiCare of Utah -- enrolls 160,000 members in its commercial-only health plan. The company's revenues annually are about $235 million.
