In California, pools provide some of the best recreational opportunities over the 4th of July weekend, but they can also pose the greatest risk. According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, drowning is the second leading cause of injury related death for children ages 1-14.

Many property insurance companies require homeowners with pools to install basic safeguards. Keith Adachi of Allstate offers advice on staying safe while cooling off this summer.
