Under the act, it is a federal crime to embezzle or misappropriate funds, money, or premiums from an insurance company, to knowingly file false financial information with regulators, to obstruct the investigation of an insurance regulator, and to work or allow such work in an insurance field after conviction of a felony involving dishonesty.
