Under a 15-year plan approved earlier this month, Egypt will build two private and 13 state universities in an effort to increase the number of students studying science from 40% to 60% and reduce the student-to-teacher-ratio. Additionally, the country will create universities with international

partners, such as China and Japan, and promote technology transfer among Arab, Islamic and African nations. Earlier this year, Egypt set up a $17.4 million fund to increase the transfer of technology to industry.
