TOOL-LESS CONNECTOR simplifies installation of cable trays. The Flextray cable-management system provides a flexible solution for organizing and protecting wiring. The coated metal trays can easily be cut and bent to create drops, bends, climbs and intersections. A new tool-less connector has a snap-in licking pin to quickly secure trays to support members. The connector is designed with a dual attachment to secure any size of straight Flextray section. The connector carries a plenum rating for installation in any environment.

SPECIAL PUTTY prevents cable tracture and scarring. Unique Fire Stop Products now provides a Firestop Putty Fill Kit for its sleeve systems to increase cable loading capacity and simplify the installation procedure. The kit consists of a 24-cubic-inch stick of intumescent putty for sealing the ends of cable sleeves. The special putty increases the fill capacity of the sleeves from 35% to 48% cable loading. The need for mineral wool batt insulation, typically required for packing, has been eliminated. The kit will fill two 4" sleeves, eight 2" sleeves, or 30 1" sleeves.

Rugged fiber-optic cable
Booth 29
HIGH-QUALITY FIBER-OPTIC CABLES survive in tough industrial settings. The GX-Series of fiber-optic cables are double-jacketed for chemical resistance in harsh environments. The cable will not degrade in chemicals, even after long-term exposure to fuels, oils, liquids, cleaning agents and acids. The double-jacketed GX Series consists of an inner cable jacket of PVC and an outer fluoropolymer cable jacket to provide the chemical resistance. These special cables are designed for use in areas where volatile chemicals can seep below ground level, such as manufacturing plants, refineries, industrial areas, along oil and gas pipelines, ports and piers, tank farms, and fuel depots. The cable is available as UL-listed OFNR riser indoor/outdoor or OFNP plenum indoor/outdoor cable. The cable can mix single-mode and multimode optical fibers within a single jacket, with a fiber count ranging from two to 144 optical fibers.

Cable identification solution
Booth 189
AUTOMATE THE LABELING OF STRUCTURED WIRING installations according to the guidelines of draft TIA-606-A, a new standard for infrastructure administration being developed by the Telecommunications' Industry Association. Agilent Technologies and Brady Worldwide have partnered to seamlessly integrate the Agilent WireScope 350 hand-held Category 6 cable analyzer with Brady's TLS2200 hand-held printer, allowing installers to print face-plate labels, desi-strip inserts, patch panel labels, and voice and data cable labels right at the installation site as the certification testing is being performed. The standards-based hierarchical structure of cable identifiers can be defined with the help of software "wizards" either on a PC using the Agilent ScopeData Pro Windows utility or on the WireScope 350 handheld tester. Cable IDs can also be imported into the WireScope 350 from other cable plant design applications, such as AutoCAD. The imported or generated list of identifiers is stored in the hand-held tester, allowing the user to select cable IDs from the list instead of entering them by hand after every test, thereby saving time and eliminating human error.

SECURE COMMUNICATION DEVICES in busy co-location environments. The Co-location Cabinets from Bud Industries feature two- and three-section styles to accommodate most manufacturers' hubs, routers and other communications equipment. Each section has a lockable, perforated rear door, and a lockable ventilated see-through Econoglas front door. Secure cable access ports in the top connect to individually secured cable ducts, with two ducts per cabinet section. The 36"-deep cabinets include perforated steel side panels and rear door for maximum air flow.

Plenum-rated fiber
Booth 187
SMALL FORM FACTOR FIBEROPTIC CABLE is designed for use in datacom applications, including fiber to the desktop, patchcords for interconnect and cross connections, and Fibre Channel. The 1.6mm Simplex and Zipcord plenum-rated interconnect cables are available in either single-mode or multimode varieties. The fiber-optic cables are reinforced with Aramid yarn for extra protection, yet they retain a high degree of flexibility for crowded routing environments. The cable is easy to strip, making field splicing and connector attachment less problematic. Additional fiber cables are available in 2.0 mm, 2.4 mm and 2.9 mm sizes.

Category 5e cable
Booth 144
PLENUM-RATED CABLE meets new UL standards. The Systimax Power Sum 4061 cable is a high-performance local area network cable, and is listed with the Underwriters Laboratories as meeting the new limited combustible cable standards. The 4061 cable is used for voice and data communications, and has transmission performance that exceeds the Category 5e industry standard. It is used in the space above a suspended ceiling (plenum area) where air is returned to provide ventilation. The cable meets the UL's stringent limited combustible U.S. requirements for Iow smoke generation and flame spread. It is jacketed and insulated with DuPont Teflon FEP fluoropolymer resin, and is not subject to performance changes due to aging or environmental conditions. The cable has been designed for high-occupancy public buildings, healthcare facilities, research laboratories and structures that house sensitive electronic mission-critical equipment.

SNMP-integrated chassis
Booth 61
MANAGED MEDIA CONVERSION provides reliable link for mission-critical applications, such as connecting e-commerce servers to the gigabit backbone, and long-distance fiber-optic runs used to extend enterprise LANs to remote offices. The iMediaCenter has an SNMP agent embedded directly on the chassis backplane that eliminates the need for separate management modules. The agent enables network managers to monitor copper and fiber-link status information, as well as chassis environmental statistics, including temperature and voltage level. The iMediaCenter chassis is available with two, eight and 18 slots for media connectivity modules. Modules install into the chassis and support ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, Fibre Channel and T-1/E-1 networking protocols. The chassis features an internal AC or DC power supply and redundant cooling fans to ensure maximum uptime. The 18-port version is available with universal, hot-swappable AC or DC power supply units. The front panel includes an RS-232 port for initial configuration, an R J-45 port for management and a switch for setting management on or off.
