CONNECT HUNDREDS OF LOW-SPEED

DATA CIRCUITS into the broadband environment in a single standards-based operation with the GDC LCE-16 module. Compatible with all GDC APEX switches, the LCE-16 installs with a simple software upgrade and operates worldwide in all major telecommunications markets. The LCE-16 works alongside each of the leading-edge features within the range of GDC APEX ATM switches and multiplexers to deliver comprehensive and flexible services to organizations demanding support for a mixture of low- and high-speed networking solutions within a single system.

Each LCE-16 module provides for up to 16 software-selectable asynchronous and/or synchronous circuits operating between 75 bps and 64 kbps over EIA-232, X.21, V.35, or EIA-530 interfaces. The new GDC-developed algorithms combine high densities of low-speed circuits into a broadband, inter-switch trunk. A single GDC APEX chassis can support more than 200 such circuits, while a clustered GDC APEX system can support thousands within a relatively small footprint. --General DataComm, Inc.

Broadband connectivity

THE V.35 INTERFACE OPTION offers broadband service enhancement to NAS's CopperNet Frame Relay and Internet access services. V.35 integrates broadband-enabling equipment, such as routers, into corporate data networks without disrupting existing routing configurations. V.35 is a compatible replacement for CSU/DSU equipment and a compatible interface for a variety of routing schemes and customer premises equipment, including high-powered routers. It functions as a modem that converts V.35 data from a customer's router to a symmetrical digital subscriber line (SDSL) format and sends it to the NAS CopperNet network at speeds ranging from 128 kbps to 2.0 Mbps for transmission to the distant end. --Network Access Solutions, Inc.

Rackmount solutions

A NEW 19" OPEN RACK designed by Ergotron provides storage for 19" rackmount components. Access equipment quickly and efficiently with this durable, open-architecture, low-cost alternative to enclosures. Features include EIA-Standard hole spacing and square-hole pattern that can accommodate 10-24 UNC, 10-32 UNC, 5mm, 12-24 UNC or 6mm screws and nuts (compatible with all EIA 19" or 23" rackmount accessories). Also available are 10-32 UNC and M6 kits. This 77"-high (40U) system has a weight capacity of 1,000 lbs. And its lockable casters easily move the entire system (glides also available). Open spaces in front are easily covered with panel fillers. Once the first 19" Open Rack is built, it can be expanded by simply adding an inexpensive 19" Open Rack extension kit.

Ergotron's 19" Rack Add-On is designed to provide storage for 19" rackmount components. It can be mounted directly to 24" and 30" Ergotron frames. Add 19" components to existing Ergotron Systems at a significantly lower cost than buying an enclosure. In addition, the 32"-high (18U) system has a weight capacity of 600 lbs., the same as many full-size enclosures. Two heights are available: 25" (14U) and 32" (18U). Both use standard cage nuts. You can install two 19" rack add-ons on one frame, or one 19" rack add-on, along with a work surface or other components. --Ergotron, Inc.

Communications open house

REAL ESTATE COMMUNICATIONS system--Windows-based Attendant Console--supplies information about callers to handle the call quickly. The attendant knows who the caller is, if he has called before, and who the appropriate agent is. Direct inward-dial numbers allow the attendant to identify why the caller is calling, the listing agent involved, and the source of the inquiry (ad, Web listing, etc). Comdial's Real Estate Solutions system provides enhanced call routing that provides one-number, follow-me service for every agent. Integrated paging sends detailed information about missed calls to the agent's pager or digital cell phone. The system's reporting automatically associates customer calls with ad placements to show where ads are most effective. Reports also monitor agent telephone activity so that identified telephone costs can be billed back to agents. --Comdial Corp.

Stay ahead of network saturation

ForeCAST RESOURCE MANAGER for Internet access provides predictive capacity planning solutions for ISPs and e-businesses (dot-coms, etc.). What this means is that network managers can now plan the addition of future network capacity needs with precise reports provided by ForeCAST. ForeCAST predicts months in advance when and where network devices, from a server CPU in New York to a T1 line in Los Angeles, will reach a preset saturation level, alerting network managers to upgrade and avoid potential crashes. Because reports are so precise and can give months of notice, network managers can easily justify these expenditures to the CFO. ForeCAST provides safe planning instead of last-minute guesswork. --Clairvoyant Software, Inc.
